The Research Program Management Office (RPMO) is lead by the Vice Chair of Research and managed by the Director of Research Administration and Operations. The RPMO goal is to administratively support research projects more efficiently and economically. To achieve this goal, the RPMO will determine systems for coordinated resource alocation and budgeting focus areas

University of California San Francisco’s Department of Orthopaedics Surgery has been ranked No. 1 in the nation in National Institutes of Health funding for orthopaedic research, according to data released by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. In 2024, UCSF Department of Orthopaedic Surgery received $8, 107, 482 in NIH Funding, ranking No. 4 among all institutions.
